New Camera!

Well, I was a very lucky birthday boy a few days ago! A certain birthday fairy named Susan gave me a Canon T4i for making it all the way to 53. Needless to say, I’ve been spending all my time running around taking pictures. I know I’ve got a lot to learn, but I certainly am having fun. I’m still on the automatic settings – read: training wheels – but I hope you like what you see so far. Oh, and Adobe Lightroom is responsible for the effects, and here, also, I am at the training wheels stage.

Here is a slide show of some of the shots I’ve taken (click on any image to start the slideshow):

  1. Wishing you a happy birthday (too late) :)
    Lovely photos!

  2. To say I am happy for you is a huge understatement.. I am thrilled to a tee for your new camera as I know how long you have been wanting one.. Have fun playing with it (you gotta name it..mine is Zelda), I adore Lightroom and if I can ever off any pointers just holler!!

    • Thank you for the birthday wishes, Lynne! I’ve thought about you quite a few times in the past few days and how excited you were when you got Zelda. I used a few of the presets that you sent me in these pictures. I’m starting to get a slightly better handle on Lightroom. It has so much potential and I really want to get to know it well. I may be dropping you a line with some questions. I’ll start by looking at the tutorials you suggested.

As for a name… hmmm…. yes, I’ll have to think about that.

Happy belated Birthday!! What a nice surprise to get the Canon T4i!! Lovely photos!!

  4. Happy Birthday! Have fun with the camera!!!! I love the pics- especially the swings and mysterious misty cliff shot.

    • Thank you, westseventhfreelance! I’m having so much fun with this new camera. I’m also surprised at how versatile RAW files are. So much latitude and so many possibilities. Fog shots are always interesting. I’m glad you liked that one.

  5. Great camera. Known here as the 650D model, I have the 600D and love it, although I’m still on trainer wheels !!. Enjoy your 54th year but I suggest counting backwards when 55 rolls around. It’s the only way to be 49 again.

Happy Birthday! That is a handsome camera! Love these shots.

    Happy Birthday!
I finally had the chance to look at your pics on a real screen rather than the phone and they are very, very nice. Is “Dandelion Fluff” down at Hamilton Beach? “Reclining Tree” looks very familiar too. The misty version of the rocks down at Craddock is quite atmospheric. Enjoy the camera!

    • Thank you very much, Deb. I’m just having too much fun with new camera!

The Dandelion Fluff was at Medicine Beach and the Reclining Tree was in your neighbourhood, just at Peter Cove.

      • Deb says:

I knew I recognized the tree; I must walk past it twice a day when we are out on the island. I am surprise we didn’t run into you when you were down in our area as we spent a lot of the week on our neighborhood beaches.
