Living where we do, we are surrounded by green almost all year round. The only exception is when a rare snow storms turns our landscape to winter white. Here is some green for the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge: Green

Awesome shots, Greg. Dumb question?? What in the heck are those “ribbons” in the top photo?
Hi Heather. It’s not a dumb question at all. Out of context, it’s a little hard to tell what they are. In fact, they are the long ribbon-like fronds (not sure if that’s the right word) that grow out of the bulb of a bull kelp. They often wash up on shore but decay quite quickly. I was lucky to get this shot before it lost its luster.
They’re also very useful to kayakers, because in the water the act as telltales to show the direction and strength of the current.
what beautiful various shades of green ^^
Thank you, kz. It was a fun topic to find shots for.
Love these, Greg! Now you need one of Charlie with something green … uh, maybe not … lol!!
Thanks, Gerry! Yes, I think that green and Charlie wouldn’t be a good mix. Certainly wouldn’t want to take a picture of it.
I pick … ALL OF THEM. Outstanding photos Greg!
Thanks, Kevin. Coming from one of the best photographers I know, that’s pretty nice compliment.
Love these shots. I have always wanted to visit the Pacific NW. One day…..
Thanks, Lynne! The Pacific Northwest does have it’s unique charms. Probably not quite as fascinating as New Orleans, but I love it here.
By the way, we’re in for our first winter storm tonight and tomorrow, and the inevitable power outages. So, tomorrow I might be singing a different tune!
Lucky to be getting snow.. I have not seen snow in over 20 years.. Don’t miss the power outages but do miss the quiet that comes after a snowfall. Hope you don’t lose power, will be a long weekend ..:-)
Love your take on the green. What an interesting tid bit about the kelp and kayakers too!
Thank you, lingeringvisions. I’m having a lot of fun with this weekly photo challenge. I must say, your photographs are exceptional.
